the video about the Cree people is powerful stuff.


Incredible user stories, to use the design thinking vernacular.


The fact that the government had proposed dollars to resolve the issues demonstrates a missed opportunity to empathize through the kind of understanding this video offers.


Listening to and empathizing with the Cree people would have opened up new solutions, instead of the default "throw money at it". They were trying to solve the wrong problem (i.e. the Cree people did not want x dollars for land, they wanted to protect their land and culture while finding a way to integrate their traditions with an industrialized society).


A very complex, integrative thinking challenge.
